Mickey Ozolins

Location

468 Lewis St., Pagosa Springs, CO

Mickey is a fused glass artist, creating beauty and mystery though glass. Her creations include:

Structural panels and wall art
Lighting (pendants, sconces, lamps)
Vessels, platters and home décor

Glass and wood sculptures with lighting (indoor and yard)

Mickey designs and constructs her pieces in her glass shop located in the Great Southern San
Juan mountains southeast of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Her passion is creating beauty using the
science of hot glass flow. She also combines her glassart with wood to unveil nature’s grace
and movement.
Mickey immigrated from Hawaii to Kansas, California, Texas, and Oklahoma, and settled in
Colorado in 2018. Her primary career was as a neuropsychologist in a hospital setting, while
she concurrently developed as an artist; from acrylics and pencil to polymer clay and ,finally,
fused glass and wood. She studied in both local and international workshops for 15 years, doing
so full time for the last several years and incorporating wood. She has sold her work in Texas,
Oklahoma and Colorado.
In her glass shop she cuts glass with hand and power tools such as saws, grinders and sanders.
Pieces of glass, often hundreds, are cut, stacked and melted in up to 4 or more rounds in a large
coffin kiln to create beautiful layered designs; with over a hundred hours of heat work at
upwards of 2000 degrees. No two pieces are alike but all reflect the intersection of art, science
and nature.
