Paint Pagosa! Autumn Plein Air Festival 2026

September 20–24, 2026 | Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Join us in the breathtaking San Juan Mountains for the 2nd annual Paint Pagosa! Plein Air Festival, a five-day celebration of outdoor painting, hosted in the charming town of Pagosa Springs. From mountain vistas and golden aspens to historic architecture and the scenic San Juan River, artists will find endless inspiration in every direction.

Event Highlights:

• Open to All 2-D media — some plein air experience is an advantage, but help will be available!

• Artist Welcome Reception & Orientation — Sunday, Sept. 20th from 5:00-7:00, with dinner at a local restaurant (covered by event, TBD)

• Daily Paint-Outs with the group or individual artists’ choice — list and map provided via email prior to arrival, and handouts @ orientation night. (option to gather each evening to discuss next day’s plans) We will have one pre-arranged day of painting downtown as a group, with catered lunch provided (TBD).

• Daily Communications via text group, Facebook page, email or phone if necessary, as well as in-person group meetups if possible. Many paintout locations may be outside of cell range.

• We’ll be stamping canvases, to show that all artwork displayed at the gallery is from this week’s event only. There will be a People’s Choice Award during the reception.

• "Wet Paint" Sale & Public Exhibition — Thursday, Sept. 24 at Two Old Crows, 468 Lewis St., 5:30-7:00pm. Gallery will handle all sales and sales tax. In return, Two Old Crows is to retain 25% commission, to cover staff and reception costs (including refreshments and gallery space). Artists will receive 75% by check after the event, via mail or in-person, if local.

• Show extended by 2 weeks (or 4?) to allow more opportunity for sales! (Location TBD) During this period, sales will be handled directly by each artist; no commission. (Need contact info attached to each painting)

Key Dates:

• Orientation: Sunday, Sept. 20th, 5:00-7:00pm at Pagosa Peak Restaurant (TBD)

• Paintout Days: All day, September 21st – 23rd, and morning of 24th, to allow time for framing. Painters may wish to arrive a day or two early, to orient themselves and settle in, but all canvases will be stamped as of Sunday 9/20.

• Deliver Framed Art to Gallery: 3:00-4:00pm on Thursday, 9/24 (no larger than 24” on each side, to fit 2 to a stand, complete with wired hanging hardware)

• Wet Paint Sale & Awards: September 25, 2026, 5:30-7pm
